13th Annual
PACBA Carnival Ball Coverage
On February 21, 2009 Polish American Contractors Builders Association
(PACBA) celebrated the XIII Annual PACBA Carnival
Ball. The ball is a well established brand in the
Polish American community. It is the event where highly
entertaining atmosphere smoothly intertwines with
networking. Golden Nail award and show of Contr-Actors
are established traditions of a ball.
Krystyna Teller, Editor-in-Chief of the Polish News,
was a recipient of the Golden Nail 2009 award. She
has for years promoted PACBA and contributed to the
Polish American community on myriad of occasions.
Being true to their craftsmanship, each year PACBA
members present a statuette in a unique design. An
anvil with a theme of first Polish pioneers that arrived
400 years ago to America was awarded last year to
Pat Quinn, the current governor of Illinois. This
year a design evolved around Lucky 13. The design
is a collaboration of four firms: Amshel and RoS,
Nathalie Studio, Exclusive Stone, and Atlantis Jewelry.
This year Contr-Actors (all are members of PACBA)
gave a unique interpretation of Abba’s music. Walter
Bochenek, past president of PACBA, wrote four songs
that capture the current crisis and hopes the administration
of president Obama might deliver. The text is truly
quite fitting and at the same time entertaining.
Les Surowiec, president of PACBA, presented to Andrzej
Cichowski, Andy Mroczkowski, and Robert Ignaciuk certificates
of appreciation for their "outstanding contribution
to community."
Eva Sieradzki represented the Office of the Governor
of the State of Illinois. Virtually all major Polish
American organizations participated in the ball. Business
community has been dominated by the construction industry
-- Home Depot, Remodelers Supply Center, RCR Concrete,
Electrical Network, Royal Stairs, Techpol Automation,
Ralf K Construction and dozens more.
Polvision taped the show and conducted interviews.
Dziennik Zwiazkowy, a daily Polish News, wrote a piece
about the ball. Jacek Niemczyk of Polvision hosted
flawlessly the ball. We danced to the tunes of Marek
Przeradowski's band.
See You Next Year!
